This post is a reality check for those of you who see the moms who “bounce back” six weeks after having their baby and think it’s that easy. Because before I had the girls that’s exactly what I thought. I thought I’d be able to just pop them out and keep it movin’. Everyone says throwing a big birthday party for your child's first birthday is really just throwing a party for yourself, and ya know what, they're right! After a year with any newborn I think all parents deserve a celebration. The theme we decided to go with for Goldy's first birthday was "GOLDY IS A WILD ONE". I did this by incorporating a modern jungle style wild animal theme and it was SO easy and fun. First, I found a local artist @RoseGoldDesigns to bring my simple modern balloon garland to life. Our Goldy girl is 11 months! Well, 11 months and a week, but who’s counting? I considered skipping this month because I was a week late. I couldn’t skip it though, because Goldy started WALKING! My heart melted. She started by taking GIANT steps and it was the most hilarious adorable thing I’ve ever seen. She also started singing and talking more and more and it makes me SO happy. The past two years have been a blur of deadlines and due dates, one after the other. Whether it was a due date of an essay or my baby girls birth or a deadline to renew my business license or register for classes, there was always something pressing me onto the next thing, onto the next moment.
